Our blower fan won't shut off. I installed a Goodman system in my home last summer and it worked great. When I operated the system for the first time this summer, the Goodman AEPF303616AA Air Handler would just not shut off. Turning off the cooling at the thermostat will not shut the fan off (and the stat shows the fan in "AUTO" mode, not "Fan On.") I now have to shut off the air handler at the circuit breaker. Funny thing is, the air handler and thermostat were supplied with power all winter: that is, the circuit breaker was on, (not off) and the thermostat was set to "OFF" (no cooling or heating). Today, the compressor cycles on and off normally. It's just that when the desired indoor air temp is reached, the fan continues to blow and blow. Even disconnecting the green fan relay wire between the handler and stat will not shut off the fan. Inside the handler, it appears that the power is supplied directly to the blower motor. There is not a fan relay that I can see, only a lot of black wires running from a circuit (control) board to the blower motor. I'm thinking that I should just try a new control board (Goodman calls that the VSTB). I'm wondering how that board could've gone bad over the winter since the unit is in a climate controlled basement and not subjected to temperature extremes like in an attic or crawl space. Possibly this could be caused by a power surge or maybe the board is just faulty. Can you offer some expertise on this?

I’m thinking that this could be a wiring issue. The common wire might be touching the fan control wire. This is not a problem that homeowners should check themselves. I suggest you contact a professional…
