My air conditioning unit inside the house on the second floor is leaking water from a copper looking hose. I had to turn it off and then I tried turning it back on but there was no more cool air. What is this copper hose and would this be considered a major repair?
The copper “hose” should be the refrigerant line. In fact, there should be two of these, one larger than the other. If the lines have ice on them you have an issue that will require a service call. You will need to contact a professional HVAC contractor like ARS/Rescue Rooter of Dallas at (214/972) 503-8000 to inspect your air conditioning unit. They will check the refrigerant levels and also look for leaks if indicated.
