• Air coming out vent but outside system not on

    Sep.6.2011

What is the problem when I can feel air coming out the vents but the outside unit does not kick on?

When the air is coming out your vents in your home, but the outside unit is not on, first the capacitor should be checked out. If the capacitor is not feeding the correct power to the outdoor fan and compressor, neither will run. It also could be a thermostat issue, but not as commonly. Often the low voltage wiring feeding the outdoor unit has been damaged, or sometimes the outdoor unit isn’t receiving the line voltage necessary to run the unit. There are numerous causes besides this, so a diagnosis by a professional technician, like ARS/Rescue Rooter, is called for.
