• Bar of soap in toilet

    Jun.6.2010

A bar of soap fell into the toilet. What solutions are typically used? We read about combining certain chemicals to dissolve a bar of soap. Any help for an out-of-work homemaker is appreciated.

I am not aware of any chemical that would help with your bar of soap issue. Your best bet is a plunger or a toilet auger to free up the bar of soap. An auger is a specialized plumbing tool used to clear clogs in toilets. If the bar of soap is no longer in the toilet but is now in the main line, you can run a snake (a cable or flexible auger used to remove clogs in plumbing) into the main line. If one of these options works, you’re in luck. However, you may need to contact a professional plumbing contractor such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Houston, TX at (281/713) 777-7777, to help you take care of this problem.
