Our compressor just went out on our unit and we had the whole unit replaced inside and out. The technician cannot find our problem. As soon as we turn the unit on, the bottom half of the coil freezes up and we still do not have cold air. The fan has also been replaced. It’s not low on refrigerant, so what else could it be since everything is brand new? We live in a mobile home, and the tech replaced the 14-year-old unit with the new energy efficient one and we now have 13 SEER instead of a 10 SEER.
A freezing coil on a new unit is usually related to a lack of airflow or oversized equipment. The following are the things to have a service provider check: Make sure your ductwork is large enough, the filter is clean, and the equipment is the correct size. I suggest you contact your AC installer or another professional HVAC contractor, like ARS/Rescue Rooter, to completely troubleshoot your unit.
