What happens in the air conditioning system when the coil valve is not working properly and how much would it cost to replace it (labor and parts)?
The thermal expansion valve most commonly fails to feed the required amount of refrigerant to the indoor coil. This reduces the cooling effect that the air conditioner produces so that it can range from just not cooling as well on hot days, to failing to cool at all. In some cases, the air feels cool but doesn’t give you the necessary humidity removal. There are different configurations that require different amounts of labor and material to replace the valve, so a technician would need to perform a service call diagnostic to confirm the valve is bad and provide a price for repair.
