I have air filters in every room of my house. I have a main filter in the garage so do I need the smaller filters throughout my home? I was told those filters cut the air flow. Please help.
I’m not sure why you have so many air filters. You are right; too many filters will cut down on your air flow. They will cause additional air restrictions that could result in performance issues. Usually if a whole house filter is installed, the other air filters are removed unless special conditions exist. Just make sure the one filter in the garage is filtering all the return air. If you are concerned about indoor air quality you may want to purchase one HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance) filter. They are designed to target and trap smaller pollutants and particles. A HEPA filter will save you money and result in cleaner, healthier air. Contact a HVAC contractor like ARS/Rescue Rooter for a complete check of your central air conditioning system.
