We had our air ducts and vents cleaned 5 days ago. I checked the filter and it was black. We use filtrete 1250 filters. Before the air ducts were cleaned I had to change the filter in less than a month although these filters I purchased are supposed to last up to 3 months. The entire unit is about 25 years old and runs through the attic. The only upgrade I have installed by your company is a UV light that was installed in 2008. Today I noticed that I had black dust in my nose as the rest of family had this issue. What could be the problem? Thanks for your time.
I suggest you contact the air duct cleaning company and let them know what is happening. The dirt that was in the ductwork has broken down and is now circulating through your system. This will most likely last for a while. I would change your filter more often and put cheesecloth over each supply grill. You may also contact the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Laurel, MD at (888) 242-4ARS at any time to have one of our professional HVAC contractors check out your entire heating system.
