I just moved into an old house and the standing shower, toilet, and sink must be linked because the shower and toilet fills up if the sink water runs. I pulled out some crap but unsure what else I should do. Help!
The situation you describe sounds like a main line blockage. All three fixtures – shower, toilet and sink – connect underground to a main line. From what you describe, I would say that this line needs to be cabled out with a rooter snake. The best way to clean out this line is by removing the toilet and going through the toilet drain. This is a job best done by a professional. I suggest you contact a plumbing contractor, such as the Rescue Rooter Bay Area East branch located in San Leandro, CA at (800) 869-6915, to assist you in correcting this plumbing problem. Your technician may possibly suggest a high-pressure cleaning process called Scour-Jet®. ARS also offers video sewer inspection, but the plumber’s snake will most likely take care of your issue.
