Fan motor makes inconsistent loud squealing noise

My air conditioner is blowing cold air and seems to be working properly, but the fan motor is making a loud squealing noise that has just started and is not constant. What can I do?

It sounds as though the failure of a fan motor is occurring. The bearings in the motor are probably bad. If this is the case, your unit will require a motor replacement.
