The garbage disposal kicks off within a few seconds after it is turned on. I can reset the disposal and the same thing happens. Could something be clogging it up?
Many times something will cause garbage disposals to automatically shut down. This is a safety feature to prevent the motor from burning up if a unit is not able to function properly. Often, an object has become lodged inside the unit. If the garbage disposal is in good condition, removing the disposal from the sink and retrieving the object from the unit will usually rectify the problem.
