The house is extremely hot during the day and it does not actually cool off until the sun goes down. It feels as if the air conditioning is not even on, even though you can hear it running. As soon as the sun goes down and especially at night the temperature in the house is where it should be in the middle of the day. The thermostat is set at 69/70 degrees. There is one room in the house that is the hottest of all the rooms and it is the smallest room in the house. My house is one level. Any suggestions what could possibly cause this?
A system diagnosis by a qualified technician would be required to see why the shortfall in cooling. It could be as simple as a tune-up and cleaning or maybe your system is low on refrigerant. Or it could be some type of system failure that would require repairs. Your best bet is to contact a professional HVAC contractor, such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Durham, NC at (919) 493-1407, to check out your system, especially if you have not had seasonal maintenance on a regular basis. Ask your technician about our ARS Home Service Plans.
