I can't get any heat in my house. I just moved in on Dec. 1. The house has gas heat. My range works and air blows out of the vents on the floor but it's cold air. The furnace is underneath the house and I'm unsure what to do. I have been calling my landlord all day with no success getting a hold of her. The heat was working up until yesterday. When I came home last night it was 56 degrees in the house and I keep it set at 60 when I'm gone. Please Help!!!!
There is a long list of possible reasons for your problem. First, double check your thermostat and make sure it is in heat mode. If your fan is blowing and there is no heat, it is possible that you may have tripped a limit, which is a safety device. Also, have you checked your air filter to make sure it is in place and clean? Do you have natural gas or propane? If you have propane, make certain that the tank is at least 20% full. If you do not find the answer to your problem after checking all of these things, I suggest contacting a HVAC contractor because a safety device may be preventing your heat from coming on.
