• How can I identify my sewer line path?

    Dec.22.2008

Is there any way for me to find where my sewer line leaves the house and the path it takes to connect up to the city sewer system?

Absolutely, as long as there is proper access into the sewer line. What you need is a sewer “line location” which is a very standard procedure for most plumbing professionals. ARS/Rescue Rooter offers a service called in line video inspection which includes line locating. We place a video camera device with a transmitter attached to it into the sewer line through a c/o (clean out). While the camera is in the sewer line we are able to pick up the transmitter’s signal with a receiver which allows us to pinpoint the exact location of the transmitter in the pipe. Not only will we be able to pin point the exact location of the transmitter, but we can also calculate the depth of the line which is usually very helpful information as well. Again, this is a pretty standard procedure for most plumbing professionals.
