I have no HOT WATER. I have no idea how to check my water heater
The first step in trouble shooting a water heater: Make sure the dial is not in vacation mode. The dial (thermostat control) can be found near the bottom of the water heater. The next thing to check is the pilot light. The pilot light should always be on when the water heater is working properly. If the pilot light is off, it will need to be relit. If the pilot light does not stay on then you most likely will need a new thermocouple. If the pilot light does stay on and you still don’t have hot water then your control valve could be the problem. I suggest you contact a professional plumbing contractor, such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Dallas, TX at (214/972) 503-8000, for a free assessment of your problem. You will want to weigh carefully how much you spend for repairs on a water heater that is out of warranty. If the water heater is still under warranty you should check with the manufacturer to see if the repair is covered.
