Our water heater started leaking water to the outside overflow pipe so we called a plumber and he replaced the pressure valve and put a turn valve, like the outside water spigot, on the pipe to the outside to stop it from leaking. Now whenever we turn on any water any temperature, the pipes make a very LOUD humming noise and right at the water heater you can feel them vibrating. The vibrating does decrease when more than one faucet is being used. What could it possibly be?
There are several scenarios that could be causing this plumbing problem, but noisy pipes are most often an indicator that the water pressure to the house is too high. Your pipes should not be humming at all, and plumbing noises can signal serious existing or impending problems. I would recommend that you have a professional plumbing contractor look at the pressure regulator to the house and test the water temperature, as well as perform a complete check up on your water heater and related plumbing.
