I have a heat pump/AC unit installed by ARS which is less than three years old and I have the maintenance contract. I have the AC unit inspected in April 2011. The temperature varies by 2 degrees in the heat of the day - 78 instead of 76 and takes several hours to drop to 76. However the temperature outside has been in the mid to upper 90's over the last few days, 95 for average. Should I have it re-inspected?
When the temperatures rise into the upper 90’s, you are operating above the design conditions of your system, and the temperature would be expected to rise by a few degrees. Systems in your area are designed based on maximum load conditions not exceeding 95 degrees. What you have described is actually normal operation for systems that are properly sized. If you would like, please follow up on this information with your local ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Durham, NC at (919) 493-1407. We will be happy to help assure that your system is running at peak performance. Thank you for using the ARS/Rescue Rooter maintenance contract which is the best way to maintain your heat pump/AC system.
