• I need a replacement stem for the kitchen sink valve

    Nov.4.2008

Where can I find a replacement stem for the on/off valve under my kitchen sink? The unit is welded to the copper pipe that comes out of the wall and is not removable unless cut and replaced by a compression valve. The house was built in 1995 and the valve is original. The handle shows it to be an Everman.

That could be a tough one. Just to replace the stem would depend on what brand valve it is and if it is still available on the market. Also, the valve could be damaged on the inside from years of use and could possibly damage the new stem or make it fail prematurely. I would recommend you call a licensed plumber, like ARS/Rescue Rooter and have the complete valve replaced — just to be on the safe side
