• Ice accumulation

    Jul.9.2010

I have two HVAC (heat pumps) in my home and one of them has stopped working today. The copper pipe inside has ice accumulation and there is of course cold coming out of the unit while the working one has neither ice nor cold air. What's my course of action to get the nonworking unit up and running?

We often find that ice is a sign of a low refrigerant charge. Contact a professional HVAC contractor, such as Aksarben®/ARS Omaha at (402) 321-1233, to service your heat pump system. Be sure you turn off the system before he gets there to assist him with servicing your air conditioner. Also, ask your technician to perform a leak search if the charge is low. A reputable HVAC contractor will either repair any leaks to your existing system, appropriately and safely disposing of any refrigerants and recharging refrigerant into the system, or he will recommend replacement of your system.
