Can you put a trap in the main line, and then put through the wall to put a trap in under the sink? (2 traps back to back within 3 feet of each other.) Forgot to put air vent in the wall. Would be last on the line. (Trap in the wall would be for gas smells not to come in.) Walls have been finished already. Sink for garage use only.
You do not want to put a trap in a main line plumbing system. You need to install a Comby (Tee fitting) in the main line, then run a branch line through the wall and install the p-trap. In some states, you can take a vent pipe off your branch line, up 6 inches above the flood rim of your sink, and then use a “studor cap” on top of your vent pipe. The p-trap will take care of the smell issue, and the “studor” cap will take care of your atmospheric pressure issue for proper flow. If this is not allowed in your state, you need to check with a professional plumbing contractor for venting options.
