How much attic insulation will I need for a 2,000 square foot home?
Insulation is installed by either batts or preformed blankets, blown-in or a combination thereof. The total should be around R-38 to R-50. If you are adding to existing insulation, then the insulation r values add together to achieve the desired number. If you currently have R-20 insulation in your attic, then add R-30, which will result in R-50. For more specific information, contact a reputable insulation company, such as Efficient Attic Systems (EAS). The call center number for EAS is 1-888-50ATTIC (1-888-502-8842), or you can go on line to request an appointment date and time or to talk with a consultant to answer your questions (www.efficientatticsystems.com). Should you need assistance with any heating, cooling or plumbing issues, please contact the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Houston, TX at (713/281/832) 777-7777.
