My air conditioning doesn’t seen to be too cool. I have noticed that the expansion valve and evaporator freeze, and the AC is running all the time. I try to set the thermostat down to 78 degrees but instead the temperature goes up. I was wondering what kind of problem my system may have?
In an air conditioning system with an expansion valve, a freeze up is often due to the fact that not enough air is moving through the system. It can be caused by dirty air filters, or even by the very restrictive one inch pleated filters that are sold with promises of high efficiency filtration. You should also check to be sure your air registers are open and not blocked. In addition to these possible issues, there could be other system problems that a service technician would need to diagnose. I suggest you contact a professional HVAC contractor, such as ARS/Rescue Rooter at 888-762-7752, for a complete system check.
