My air conditioning unit where the pipes are up in the attic got clogged and the water backed up and went in the collecting pan and it also clogged up my upstairs sink. We had ARS come out and fix the clog and clear the drain lines. The technician said we could maintain the lines so they would not get clogged up again and he told me I could use bleach and water in the pipes by the AC unit in the attic once a month but I do not recall how much bleach and water to use per treatment, per pipe. Can you help with this?
Use about a cup of water minimum with a capful of bleach. This helps dissolve the microbial growth that forms inside the pipe and helps prevent future clogs. It should be poured into a tee or into the drain line and not into the drain pan itself, as it could be corrosive in the drain pan. Thank you for using ARS/Rescue Rooter.
