My heater will not kick on when the temperature falls below the set temperature on the thermostat. It will only turn back on if I turn the switch on the thermostat to OFF and then back to HEAT. However, the heat does not continue to run to achieve the desired temperature set on the thermostat. And when the heat is not blowing, the LED light on the furnace flashes once. What is the problem?
If the LED flashes once, it means you have power to the furnace on most models. By turning the thermostat to the “Off” position, then back on, you may be resetting the circuit board. I would look at the LED when the furnace does not come on and count the flashes of the LED before resetting. There are usually slow flashes and fast ones. Refer to the door on your furnace. There should be a breakdown regarding what the flashes mean. I suggest contacting a professional HVAC contractor, such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter Pittsburgh branch at (412) 487-2400 or (412) 961-0400 for further assistance with your heating system needs.
