• New unit worked fine for one day

    Dec.21.2011

I had a new heating and AC unit put in my home recently. It worked great the first day, but now the thermostat and the whole unit shut down after about 10 hours of working. I had the company come out yesterday, and the contractor changed some wires and got it working fine. However, this morning it is out again.

There could be several issues contributing to the failure of your thermostat and your whole heating and cooling unit. When the unit is satisfying the temperature it will shut off, but if you aren’t getting the house cool enough and it still shuts off, you have a problem. Check your filter and ensure you are getting good airflow through the system. If the condensing unit is overheating, it also could shut down. If that is the case you will need to have your service provider diagnose what is causing that to happen so he can correct it. I think it would be best to ask the installing contractor what wires he changed and that will point you in the right direction. I suggest you have them return once more to get your unit in good working order or you could contact another reputable professional HVAC contractor like the ARS location, Will Fix It San Antonio, at (210) 333-3300.ars.com/locations/san-antonio-tx-hvac.aspx
