• One of my double sinks is clogged

    Sep.2.2008

I have a double sink in my master bathroom. One of the sinks (the one that is used all the time) is clogged. I opened the pipe under the sink - thinking that it was clogged there - but it's not. It must be somewhere before the other sink meets up with it, because the second sink if fine. I am not having trouble with anything else in the bathroom. What can I do to unclog this sink and if I asked ARS / Rescue Rooter to come out what would be the charge for a service call and to unclog my bathroom sink?

The two sinks that you have in your master bathroom are connected to a single drain - picture the letter “Y.”  It seems like you have a blockage before the “Y”, also called the “wye connection.” In order to take care of the problem, the p-trap and waste arm under the bathroom sinks would need to be removed and then a snake would need to be run past the wye connection. Removing and replacing the p-trap and waste arm can be tricky, and if not done properly, can cause leakage under the sink.

I would recommend calling a professional plumbing company, like ARS / Rescue Rooter, to diagnose your problem and provide you with an estimate. Also, we have branches nationwide, so please call your local branch for prices, as they may vary state to state.
