My inside air conditioner unit comes on, but the thermostat is saying 82 degrees even though I turn it down low. The outside unit is not coming on at all. When I turn on the inside unit the outside makes a clicking sound. Thank you for helping me with this issue.
This noise may indicate that your 230 volt circuit feeding the outdoor air conditioner is not energized and the unit is trying to turn on when it clicks but has no line voltage present. Two places you can check are the two pole breaker or fuses inside the house and the electrical disconnect outside, which often contains fuses. I recommend only qualified and trained technicians work with line voltage. Contact a professional HVAC contractor, such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in South Houston, TX at (713/281/832) 777-7777.
