• Replace thermostat?

    May.10.2010

My ARS thermostat says “Replace” in the lower left corner and there is no other information on the screen. I replaced the batteries and it still shows “Replace” but also indicates 73 degrees with a ‘C’ next to it. However, the air conditioning does not come on. When I put the fan in the “on” instead of “auto” position, it blows air but not cool air. Do I need to replace my thermostat as it apparently is not measuring the temperature anymore? It has said 73 degrees for the past 36 hours.

Have the thermostat checked by a professional HVAC contractor. The "Replace" might be for the filters.  Ask the technician to look at whether your configuration mode needs to be changed. If this does not work, it is likely that replacement of your thermostat will be necessary. I suggest you contact the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Manassas, VA at (888) 242-4ARS to troubleshoot your thermostat problems.
