We have replaced the battery on our thermostat. (On the right hand side there is the temperature window with up and down buttons, and then there are two switches - Fan/On, Auto - and Heat – Off –Cool.) Is there a reset button that needs to be pushed after replacing the batteries? If so, what does it look like and where is it located? Thank you!
In most cases there is no "reset" button for a thermostat. Typically one of the first signs that a thermostat is not functioning correctly is a "Low Battery" indicator. Another sign of thermostat trouble is when the temperature in the house is more than two degrees different from the setting on the thermostat. I would recommend having a trained technician take a look and confirm that the problem is your thermostat before you replace it. No sense in wasting money on a replacement if the existing thermostat is still functioning. Many times a problem thought to be the thermostat is really a problem with the furnace itself. If you do need a new thermostat, there are several new programmable digital options to consider that will result in ease of control of your heating system, as well as optimum efficiency. I suggest you contact a professional HVAC contractor, such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Manassas, VA at (888) 261-6579, for assistance in assessing your problem, fixing your existing thermostat, and exploring the best options for your home.
