Several times a day our air conditioning clicks on, then immediately off. We only hear this outside. We have 2 units and it only happens on the main one. The zonex control board and new thermostat were replaced but it still did it. A loose common wire on main area thermostat was repaired but it still did it. We then replaced the board again, and still the clicking on and off. It actually makes a big "clunk" like it is going to go on then it shuts off. This does not happen all the time. What can it be?
What is surprising about your situation is that you have replaced so many parts of your air conditioning system, but the problem still persists. Given that so many attempts have been made to correct the issue with no resolve, it is very difficult for me to make a recommendation without being on the property to inspect your air conditioning unit first hand. Some possibilities could be that there is an issue with the Freon. Some HVAC systems have a low pressure switch that would short cycle the unit. It may also be an electrical problem, as you may have low voltage issues or a short. At this point, I would recommend having a qualified heating and air conditioning specialist visit your home to thoroughly inspect your system. If you would like to have ARS/Rescue Rooter perform this service for you, the phone number in your area is (281) 777-7777.
