I live on the bottom floor of a three-story building. Our units have put washers and dryers on each of our balconies and now I get soap suds spilling out of my toilets as do some of my neighbors on the first floor. What can I or any plumber do to correct this problem?
There are a few things that could be causing the problem. If too much soap is being used, that would most likely result in an overflow. Check with the people who are using the washing machines. Another thought, the drain could be slightly restricted which could cause a slowdown of the water flow. Have a professional plumbing contractor run a video sewer camera down the drain to inspect it. The final possible cause is that the vent is improperly sized for the added fixtures. Check with the building department to see if an inspection was performed on the new fixture install. If you can’t get to the bottom of this problem, I suggest you contact a professional plumbing contractor like the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch Rescue Rooter Orange at (888) 762-7711.
