• Something in the attic is making a very loud noise like thunder and rattles the ceiling. Could it be the water heater?

I have some wet spots in my ceiling upstairs, one of them was leaking. I had a guy come out and cut the sheetrock to see what was leaking and it's a pipe under the water heater, which dripped and caused a puddle to drip. Something in the attic is making a very loud noise like thunder and rattles the ceiling some, every time the a/c unit comes on it starts, then when its off it stop. But now it’s doing it even when the a/c is not on, could it be the hot water heater? It gets loud also when I turn the washer on, so I had to stop washing clothes, what could the problem be? The site manager said it's not covered under warranty since I been here 3 years. It's very scary and I hope that the ceiling doesn't cave in with whatever is going on.

It is hard to say exactly what is making that loud noise and why without inspecting the situation first hand. However I do highly recommend that you get the water heater checked immediately by a licensed plumber. It sounds like your hot water heater could be the culprit, but it is best to get it looked at and diagnosed by a professional. If you would like to have one of our ARS/Rescue Rooter technicians visit your home to inspect the problem, you can give us a call at (281) 777-7777.
