The toilet in my master bathroom is not working properly. When I flush the toilet the water comes up really high like it's going to overflow (but it doesn't/hasn't yet), then it goes down very slowly and then it gurgles when the bowl empties out. Every now and then when I flush, bits of toilet paper come out and it looks like it's been shredded. Sometimes it flushes normal and sometimes it acts up as described above. Do you think I could have a "blockage"?
This is definitely a blockage. There could be something stuck in the toilet trap or something in the main line. Sometimes you can use an “auger” (a specialized plumbing tool used to clear clogs in toilets) to free up a blockage in the toilet trap. Most of the time you will need to pull the toilet and look in the bottom of it to find the problem. If there is nothing in the toilet, then you will need to run a snake (a cable or flexible auger used to remove clogs in plumbing) into the main line to clear the blockage. I suggest you contact a professional plumbing contractor such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Houston, TX at (281/713) 777-7777 to assist you with this issue.
