We just had an ARS-24180-16 UVC lamp installed on the air conditioner. The first one the technician put in blew up so he came back and replaced it with a new one, but the transformer is hot to the touch. Is this normal? I'm just worried. I don't want my house to catch fire
It is normal for a transformer to feel warm to the touch. If there is something wrong, like a short somewhere in the unit, the transformer is designed to short out internally. There should be no safety hazard here at all. However, if you are concerned, please call your local ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Fort Walton Beach, FL at (850) 308-1439 and have them come out to take a second look. Your peace of mind is important to us and we won’t mind one bit.
