• UV light for my air conditioner

    Aug.5.2010

I have read that a UV light works to remove mold and bacteria from an air conditioner. What is the approximate cost for a 1515 sq. ft. home? I do not want one with an ionizer on it. My HVAC unit is 4 years old.

UV lights are now widely used in home air conditioning/heating systems, and they do a great job of destroying mold spores and bacteria as well as allergens and viruses. There are several different makes and models. There are simple UV lights, and there are also units that deodorize and/or sanitize using a reactive material in conjunction with the UV light. The cost for UV lights is not significant, especially when considering the benefits.  I suggest you contact a professional HVAC contractor, such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Myrtle Beach, SC at (843) 293-9999, to assist you with selecting a UV light for your system.
