My vent pipes are cut below my trailer which left open the toilet and bathtub backup. The washing machine drains out the one vent pipe. What can I do to fix this?
Vent pipes are not designed to terminate under a mobile home. They are installed in the plumbing system to allow for air flow. This helps remove the smells from the sewer system and it also helps with proper flow, while it allows for atmospheric pressure, so there is no air lock. The vent pipes should be placed so they are on top of the drainage fittings for each fixture and then run to the top of the building structure or in this case to the top of the trailer. (Typically one foot above the roof line.) By no means should a vent line ever terminate under a building or mobile home. (The smells from the sewer system would be one problem. The other problem would be the drainage from the fixtures could be diverted to come out the vent openings. That’s what it sounds like is happening in your case. I suggest you contact a professional plumbing contractor, such as the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Tampa Bay, FL, at (727) 588-4200 or (813) 282-3737.
