• Water won't stay in toilet bowl

    Aug.24.2011

The toilet flushes fine but water will not stay in the bowl; it leaks out somewhere. The landlord said to clean calcium build-up from water outlets inside the bowl but that did not work.

If you are not seeing water leak on the floor and yet the water is disappearing from the bowl, there is a stoppage in the s-trap of the toilet. Usually a toilet auger (a J-shaped tube and cable which works like a drain snake) will work to clear this type of blockage, but the toilet may need to be removed so that the material can be cleared from the bottom end of the toilet. I suggest you contact a professional plumbing contractor, like the ARS/Rescue Rooter branch in Phoenix, AZ at (602) 253-9750, to schedule a service call for assistance in correcting this problem.
