• We unclogged our tub with a plumbing snake, but now the snake is stuck.

My bath tub was backed up. My husband tried to unclog the drain using a snake. The bath tub is flowing properly now, however the snake is stuck in the drain pipe and we can't get it out. What do we do to get the snake out, aside from calling a plumber as we cannot afford one?

In order to remove the plumbing snake from your bathtub drain, I would suggest using a pair of Vice GripĀ® pliers. I recommend using a pair of Vice Grip pliers because they lock into place. If you do not currently own a pair, you can pick them up at any Home Depot or Lowes store. Attach the Vice Grip pliers to the plumbing cable, then spin it backwards and pull at the same time. This should dislodge the snake. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, or if you are still unable to remove the snake from the bathtub drain, I would recommend calling a license plumbing company, like ARS/Rescue Rooter, to remove it. Our phone number in your area is (800) 869-6943 if you need our assistance. Also remember to check our website, www.ars.com for coupons that you may be able to use on your service.
